The Ruffedge Concert At DFP Is An Opportunity To See The Malaysian R&B Group Perform Again
Share
When it comes to popular local groups, Ruffedge is arguably the one most Malaysian music fans remember. The local R&B and Hip-Hop group was first introduced to audiences in the late 90s. Now, more than two decades in music, Ruffedge is proudly making their debut concert at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP).
Audiences were first introduced in a big way to Ruffedge following their debut on ‘Sony Battery Face On Talent Search Competition’, which they won. Throughout its history, the group has had multiple hits including ‘Tipah Tertipu’, ‘Da’ Bomb’ and many more.
The quintet have three studio albums to their name and a pair of compilation albums to their credit. Both Defined (2004) and Ruffera (2005) receiving platinum certification, they have also garnered impressive accolades on local shores winning both Artis Harapan award at Anugerah Industri Muzik in 2003.
This of course brings us to the upcoming Ruffedge concert performance at the DFP. The concert hall, renowned for being the home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, will trade its classical repertoire for one night for signature Ruffedge tunes.
From Classical To Hip-Hop
Although it would seem a departure of sorts for the DFP, Ruffedge’s concert isn’t the first time the classical concert venue has played host to local groups. In the past the DFP has hosted local talents such as Hujan and Akim & The Majistret.
Each ensemble has captivated concertgoers with their outstanding musicianship at a setting known for its magnificent acoustics. The concert is also in line with DFP’s goal to provide diverse music and cultural offerings to create a unique experience for all.
But Ruffedge’s inaugural concert performance at the DFP will undoubtedly be special. The concert themed Ruffera will transport fans down memory lane as the quintet is set to serenade concertgoers with its signature ballads and hits.
Expect to hear crowd favourites songs such as ‘Tiada Lagi Cinta’, ‘Bila Rindu’, ‘Lemas’ and ‘Seperti Mereka’ as well as tributes to other musicians. The ensemble will be supported by a band led by Music Director Dato’ Acis.
Ruffera will take place on Saturday, 2 July 2022 at 8:30 pm at the DFP. Ticket prices from the concert range from RM100 to RM200 with Suite seating priced at RM320 and RM360 respectively. Tickets can be purchased here.
