Mecascape Sublimation 1: Not A Watch, Not A Clock, It’s The Future

Defying everything we know about watches, could this “watch” be the invention of our lifetime?

What you see in these pictures is (technically) not a pocket watch, wrist watch, or clock, it is, according to Code 41, the company behind this magnificent (albeit mind boggling) innovation in architectural vision of time, space, volume and light, and is a “mechanical watch object that transcends the usual dimensions.”

However, I personally disagree, see, I think this is so much more than that. Now bear with me when I say that as personally confusing as this “watch” is, I think it could potentially become the new standard in time telling devices. Yes, I sound crazy, but so did Einstein in 1905 and now E=MC2 is still the norm some 100 over years later.

Why do I think this? Just look at it! This “watch” is made with so many different shapes, spheres, concave, a rectangular frame, multiple dials, a plethora of personalized colours, what more could anyone want from a timepiece?

It gives off the illusion of simplicity while being unfathomably complex yet by just taking this “watch” as what it is, we can actually make something simple of it. It should come as no surprise then that Code 41 is a Swiss brand since the intricacy and unapologetic depth behind this slice of future pie is unparalleled.

I don’t know what else I can realistically say about this “watch” as it is more abstract than a “mad” artists painting (mere splashes and sloshes of a brush done on a Tuesday evening after 3 bottles of wine, no doubt), so I shall just let the founder and CEO of code 41 explain this in his own words.watch

He said “My idea for the Mecascape goes back to 2009, more than 12 years ago. Today, after having founded CODE 41, given birth to 6 collections, and dedicated 5 years of focused development to the project, the time has come, the maturity and the means too, to give birth to the first Mecascape.”

“I knew, with the team, from the outset that we were working on something really special. An ambitious and daring project in every sense of the word. Translating my vision into a unique and original watch object was a real collective challenge and we are all very proud of the result. Working with time from all angles (and that’s the right word here) has rarely been so rewarding.” He added.watch

So in conclusion, the Code 41 Mecascape Sublimation 1 has (very surprisingly) left me speechless and trust me when I say I am a chatterbox, just ask my friends, but then again, I take this as a positive since I think it is just that innovative, what do you think? Is this “watch” really going to shape the future or am I just stark raving mad?
