This gorgeous timepiece features a meteorite dial and meteorite moon
We have covered some seriously stunning and downright bizarre watches here at Jetset but this new watch is quite literally out of this world, or at least, it contains something that is out of this world. The new Luna Magna Platinum from Arnold & Son has a dial made from a meteorite, 3-D Opal and an actual Meteorite Moon.
This watch is so stellar, pun intended, that it has been nominated for the 2022 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve in the Calendar and Astronomy Category. Couple that with the fact that this exclusive timepiece will only be made in a limited 28 pieces and you have yourself what may just be the most sought after timepiece of all time.
This masterpiece features a spherical moon adorned in sand-coloured, PVD treated meteorite dial encompassed in a pt 950 platinum case. The moon in shadow element is also made from meteorite continuing the cosmic theme and the watch shines at night thanks to the moon hemisphere and opal subdial being coated in Super Lumi-Nova.
The constantly-changing moon has been an irreplaceable muse for Arnold & Son and just like with the phases of the moon, this watch marks a new cycle for the company. With a satin circular-grained finish and the hour and minute subdial being crafted from Opal, the Luna Magnum Platinum exudes purity and delicacy.
Moreover, the off-centered position of the display frees up space for the meteorite disc and at 6 o’clock, the 3D moon shows a uniform finish to the rest of the dial and this goes well with the bright shine of the platinum case which only adds to the elegance of the watch.
On top of that, Arnold & Son chose a meteorite from the octahedrite class for it’s recognizable jagged criss-crossing pattern and all the other various materials were chosen for their moon-like porcelain hue that, when paired with the Super Lumi-Nova, make for colourful glows at night which are invisible during the day.
The Luna Magnum Platinum is driven by the A&S1021 calibre, fully developed in house by Arnold & Son and this hand-wound calibre features a 90-hour power reserve and clear and easily readable markings and the meteorite moon rotates exactly as the real deal and will take 122 years before it deviates from the correct celestial reading.
