Franck Muller celebrates the Year of the Dragon with the launch of the Cintrée Curvex Ryoko Kaneta Dragon Limited Edition. This exclusive timepiece was crafted in collaboration with Japanese artist Ryoko Kaneta.

How Many?

This Asia Pacific exclusive is limited to 500 pieces, following the success of the 2023 #FR2NCK MULLER Vanguard that blended Swiss watchmaking with Japanese street fashion. Unlike traditional depictions, this watch offers a whimsical twist on the dragon motif through Kaneta’s unique artistic lens.

Known for her anthropomorphic style, Kaneta portrays the mythical dragons as doll-like girls interacting with indices on the dial. This playful interpretation contrasts elegantly with the neoclassical Cintrée Curvex case, known for its curvilinear elements.

Eastern Influence

Kaneta’s choice to humaise dragons was inspired by the Cintrée Curvex’s design, which she felt complemented her figures’ interactions with the dial’s indices. This collaboration not only pushes creative boundaries but also reflects Franck Muller’s commitment to reinventing traditional motifs in unexpected ways, akin to their other innovative watch designs.

As seen on the timepiece, the dragon’s portrayal in Kaneta’s signature “chibi” style resonates with Japanese pop culture aesthetic.. However it also subtly references traditional East Asian beliefs where dragons embody rain and prosperity. The predominantly black and white figures on the dial, with aqua blue accents in their hair and indices, symbolise their connection to water.
