Art Basel’s 2025 edition in Hong Kong promises an exciting showcase of artistic diversity, with 240 galleries from 42 countries and territories. This prestigious fair reflects the global art scene’s vibrant evolution, featuring sectors such as Galleries, Discoveries, and Insights.

Major Galleries And Partners 

Leading galleries will present exceptional works at Art Basel in Hong Kong. Hauser & Wirth will feature renowned masters like Louise Bourgeois and Philip Guston, alongside contemporary stars such as Frank Bowling, Rashid Johnson, and Zhang Enli. For its debut at the fair, Berry Campbell Gallery will highlight postwar female artists whose contributions were long overlooked, including Alice Baber and Bernice Bing.

Gagosian will present internationally acclaimed works, while Sprüth Magers showcases iconic artists like Cindy Sherman and Jenny Holzer. Additionally, BMW, as a Partner of Art Basel, will unveil the 20th BMW Art Car by Julie Mehretu, celebrating 50 years of Art Car history. Cultural partner CHAT will present collaborative works by the Guangzhou-based BOLOHO collective.

Cultural Events And Exhibitions

Art Basel Hong Kong coincides with several cultural events across the city. AIRSIDE presents the sensory experience “WEIRD SENSATION FEELS GOOD: The World of ASMR” at GATE 33 Gallery, while DA&A explores the rich history and craftsmanship of jadeite with interactive installations at “The Life Cycle of Jadeite: Past and Present.”

CHAT will also host a series of exhibitions during Art March. The Stallery reflects on its anniversary with a special exhibition of founder Ernest Chang’s works.

International Exhibitions and Events

Beyond Hong Kong, the Art Sonje Center presents “Ha Chong-Hyun 5975,” showcasing the artist’s formative years from 1959-1975. The New Taipei City Art Museum opens on April 25, 2025, marking a significant cultural milestone. The Aichi Triennale 2025, under the leadership of Hoor Al Qasimi, will also delve into the collective responsibilities humanity faces.

Regional Events

The Sharjah Biennial 16, curated by international curators Natasha Ginwala, Amal Khalaf, Zeynep Öz, Alia Swastika, and Megan Tamati-Quennell, returns with the theme “to carry,” exploring the significance of what and how we carry as a global community. This edition features over 140 participants, including more than 80 new commissions across the Emirate of Sharjah.
