Mixing Modern With Classical

Monica Chin, Oppo Malaysia’s Chief Marketing Officer, emphasises the importance of connecting past and future through culture. She highlights how technology, particularly AI, can help the younger generation engage with and preserve heritage.

Minister of Education, H.E. Fadhlina Sidek, President of the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO, praised the initiative, saying, “Through Oppo’s campaign, we aim to elevate Malaysia’s traditional arts and heritage, using technology to preserve our diverse culture for future generations.”Oppo

Celebrating Culture

Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “Utilising Oppo’s cutting-edge technology, we can showcase the intricate details of our cultural practices and share our stories with the world. This initiative highlights Malaysia’s cultural richness and furthers our mission to preserve and celebrate our cultural legacy.”

As part of the #OppoMalaysiaThroughTheLens campaign, Oppo will present five different Malaysian cultural art forms through its new Oppo Reno Series. The series begins with the art of Wayang Kulit, featuring master puppeteer Pak Dain and fusion artist Tin Toy. The short documentary spotlights their efforts to preserve this traditional shadow puppetry.Oppo

Shining The Spotlight

Upcoming documentaries will explore the Ngajat dance of Sarawak, the Magagung tradition with young Kadazan men, the Dondang Sayang of Malacca, and the Chinese Opera of Penang. These films aim to preserve and celebrate these unique art forms. Oppo will compile these cultural moments into a coffee table book, set to be released during the national month as a celebration of Malaysia’s unique art forms.AI
