The Mazda CX-90 is a significant evolution in every way
Mazda North American operations, which oversees the day to day of Mazda in the U.S has just unveiled the company’s all-new first ever mid-size crossover SUV, the Mazda CX-90 today and this beast is a serious evolution for Mazda in terms of comfort as well as environmental and safety performance.
The Mazda CX-90 is also part of the brand’s “Large Product Group” and the Japanese automaker plans to introduce four new models in this group by the end of the year in the global market in this group as the brand sees a strong demand for SUVs worldwide.
Moreover, the Mazda CX-90 is the second product under the “Large Product Group” following the CX-60 which was released last year. These two products help to enhance the brand’s SUV lineup and enables the company to meet customer needs both specific and general, as well as boost the Mazda brand.
The Mazda CX-90 was also built on the concept of “For the voyage of your life” and it offers greater comfort, functionality, and safety performance, making driving more enjoyable and fun. This new flagship model will officially make its debut in the North American market this spring so keep an eye out for it.
The exterior design of the Mazda CX-90 is also an evolution of the brand’s “Kodo” (Soul of Motion) design philosophy and really applies the concept of “less is more,” with its simple shape and mammoth proportions. The interior is no different, with a light and airy feel being produced from the light colours in the car.
As for the powertrain, the Mazda CX-90 will feature a 3.3 litre straight six engine paired to a 48-volt mild hybrid system, or a e-SKYACTIV 2.5 litre inline four engine paired to an electric motor making this car a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The new rear-biased all-wheel drive system also ensures a fun but eco-friendly ride.
Mazda also made sure that all passengers inside the CX-90 would be comfortable as we can see with the two individual “captain’ styled” seats in the middle row and the third row having its own air con vents and the capacity to seat three people. What’s more, all seats have been made larger for maximum comfort.
Moving forward with 2023, Mazda will apply what it has learned from building the CX-90 and continue research based on the it’s human-centered philosophy, create more moving experiences for people to enjoy as they move about in their daily life and deliver greater enjoyment to everyday life, uplifting and energizing people.
What do you guys think of the Mazda CX-90? Would you like to see it here in Malaysia or would it be unnecessary?
