The new capsule collection from Idris Elba is back and upgraded in 2024
Christian Louboutin joins forces with long-time friends Idris and Sabrina Elba for the third edition of Walk A Mile In My Shoes (WAMIMS), a collection of shoes and leather goods co-designed by the trio.
A Good Cause
Proceeds from sales will benefit six global charities, specifically, The Gathering For Justice, Elman Peace, Immediate Theatre, The Raining Season, Casa 93, and AfriKids. The initiative was sparked by a desire to foster empathy, particularly in the wake of discussions on racial tolerance following the events of 2020.
Inspired by a conversation with #BlackLivesMatter co-founder Ayo Tometi, the Elbas sought to use their platforms for social justice. Collaborating with Christian Louboutin was a natural progression, resulting in the WAMIMS collection.
Still Going Strong
Over two years, the collaboration has raised USD2 million (about RM9.4 million). This year, profits will support six organisations championing social equality and youth creativity in the US, UK, France, Ghana, Somalia, and Sierra Leone.
Additionally, the collection features a vibrant print incorporating the WAMIMS acronym, symbolising the initiative’s message. Co-designed by Sabrina, Idris, and Christian, the pieces draw inspiration from African culture. Braided elements represent the trio’s strong bond.
A Personal Touch
Personal touches abound, such as the 2002SL Low sneaker, updated with the WAMIMS print, paying homage to Idris’ daughter’s birth year and Sierra Leonean heritage. The Fatima 120 heel, named after Sabrina’s sister, features braided straps, while the Hibaq 55, named after her youngest sister, boasts intricate braiding.
Sabrina, Idris, and Christian unite their voices for a common cause, with all proceeds from the collection benefiting the selected charities. Available online and at Christian Louboutin boutiques, the WAMIMS collection aims to make a lasting impact on communities worldwide.
