Feel powerful with the new Franck Muller Limited Edition Dragon 

It has become a tradition in the watchmaking industry to release special edition timepieces every Lunar New Year. As the Year of the Dragon draws close, Franck Muller unveils two collections this year, namely the Cintrée Curvex Ryoko Kaneta Dragon Limited Edition and the Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Limited Edition.

Cintrée Curvex

Designed in collaboration with its namesake, Japanese artist Ryoko Kaneta, the new timepiece offers a whimsical take on the mythical dragon. While the creature is traditionally portrayed as a regal, an authoritative figure that heralds strength, prosperity, and good health, it has been reimagined as a series of doll-like girls, a trademark of Kaneta.

Teamwork Making The Dream Work

Moreover, for her collaboration with Franck Muller, Kaneta drew on traditional East Asian beliefs that revere the dragon as a divine figure blessing the earth with rain for a bountiful harvest. The figures on the dial are largely in black and white, with hints of aqua blue in their hair to provide a visual link to their role as bringers of rain.

The parallels extend to the similarly coloured indices, for yet another subtle nod at the dragon’s ties to the element of water. The visual cues extend to the turquoise dial, which offers a matching palette in lacquer while playing with light via its textured guilloché pattern, as a matching turquoise strap wraps things up to complete the overall package.

Vanguard Dragon

On top of that, themed on the mythical dragon, Franck Muller introduces the new Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Limited Edition, consisting of three bejewelled references of the Vanguard Slim Skeleton. The watches all bear a customised rotor that has been engraved with a dragon, which appears to coil around the movement.

The Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Rouge and Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Vert are accented in red and green respectively, with the pops of colour coming from their tinted sapphire case backs, as well as infilled hands. The third reference, the Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Color Dreams, comes with a transparent case back, but brings a riot of bright hues to the dial with its indices instead. Just 10 pieces of each reference will be available, exclusively in the Asia Pacific region, no less.
