Mercedes-Benz unveiled its new EQS 450 in the most fashionable and stylish way
Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL) 2024 made a stunning return for its sixth edition, melding the world of high fashion with automotive innovation under the theme “Re:imagine” The three-day event was held from 16 to 18 August at The Yard in Sentul Depot.
A New Car
This year’s FashionWeek featured the debut of the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV, a vehicle that embodies the brand’s dedication to sustainability and advanced technology. MBFWKL 2024 was a celebration of fashion’s intersection with eco-conscious innovation.
Moreover, attendees enjoyed breathtaking haute couture and contemporary styles from over ten designers, including rising stars like EL by Ellie Lim and DOUBLEBACK by Will Lim, and established names such as Alice Chang of A-JANE and NOIZ. Ellie Lim’s use of sustainable fabrics and Will Lim’s bold designs captivated audiences.
Sustainable Fashion
Meanwhile Alice Chang’s collection, with 90 percent of pieces created through carbon-neutral processes, showcased that eco-friendly fashion can be both cutting-edge and commercially viable. The event highlighted its evolution from a local showcase to an internationally recognized platform.
Designers such as Celest Thoi, Aaron Yong, and Oscar Lee presented innovative, sustainable creations. International brands like Self-Portrait, AMIRI, and Jacquemus, presented by Club21, added a global flair to the local scene. The finale featured influential designers like Brian Khoo, Jonathan Cheng, and Voon Lai, alongside Dickson Lim, who impressed with his eco-conscious collection following his success at the World Federation of Master Tailors competition.
A Perfect Balance
On top of the fashion, MBFWKL 2024 also highlighted the synergy between style and sustainability. The new EQS 450 4MATIC SUV, a pinnacle of luxury and green technology, was the star attraction. With a range of up to 673 km on a single charge, advanced features like the MBUX Hyperscreen, and an elegant interior, the EQS SUV exemplified the future of automotive innovation.
