A cathedral in Lille, France embraces the theme of the hit video game

To further hype the release of the upcoming game, the world of Diablo IV is recreated in the real world once more. This time celebrated artists have transformed the ceiling of a deconsecrated cathedral in France with the demonic art of Diablo IV, the next installment in the genre-defining video game series.

The Devil Is In The Details

The 160-foot mural is a conglomeration of 20 unique paintings covering the vintage cathedral ceiling and dome, along with a massive mural along the back wall. Artist, Adam Miller explained, “This is a very unique project. It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to paint in a setting like this at this grand scale with figurative painting.”

Miller and his team accomplished this by painting on canvas before installing them in the cathedral to achieve to evoke a look similar to the masterpieces of the likes of Caravaggio and Michelangelo.

Witness The Demons Come To Life

Fans of the Diablo IV universe can also witness a journey through the cathedral as it was all filmed. The filmed installation was directed by Henry Hobson and voiced by Game of Thrones’ Charles Dance, the film is crafted to allow viewers to feel the space, the art, and the consequences of the battle itself.

Hobson stated, “… Having Adam’s work to build from, the once-in-a-lifetime classical space ‘corrupted’ by Adam’s renaissance universe, adding layers of mystery and inferring the wider world as a battle rages within the space was utterly beguiling…”

While the camera journeys along the walls of the dark cathedral, viewers can follow the five character classes from Diablo IV as they clash with the powers of evil in the ultimate struggle between Light and Darkness. Diablo IV fans can also enjoy a behind-the-scenes video that has also been released as part of this campaign as well.

Time To Play

While the dark cathedral is a sight to behold, we are here for the game. Diablo IV is One of the most anticipated games of 2023 and will be released on 6 June 2023. The Open Beta is scheduled for 25 to 28 March 2023 GMT+8, and those who pre-order get early access starting 18 March through to 21 March 2023 SGT GMT+8.
