Forget folding smartphones, ASUS is giving us the first foldable laptop
ASUS just announced the world’s first fully foldable laptop, the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED (It’s a mouthful, I know, so for the sake of simplicity I’ll just call it the ASUS Zenbook 17 from here on out) at their “The Incredible unfolds” virtual launch during their media day at IFA and I want one.
This laptop from the future will be launching sometime in the fourth quarter of the year with a starting price of RM14,900 according to the ASUS website. The ASUS Zenbook 17 grabbed everyone’s attention immediately because it is made up of a flexible screen and a bluetooth keyboard for increased productivity.
Despite the screen size of the ASUS Zenbook 17 being 17.3 inches across, the entire laptop can fit in a 12.5 inch carrier bag and only weighs 1.5kg, so this laptop is very portable. I would know how difficult carrying something with a 17.3 inch screen can be as that is the same size as my (uncomfortably heavy) 5kg gaming laptop.
The massive screen and foldable body give limitless possibilities in terms of productivity and versatility and entertainment as the ASUS Zenbook 17 can be used in two different screen ratios and configurations.
Equipped with a Intel Iris X graphics card paired to a noise-canceling Harmon Kardon (Yes the same as in BMW) sound system, the colours on the ASUS OLED display are bright and vivid while meetings will go uninterrupted and watching content on it will be crisp and clear as well.
The laptop also has volume buttons on the side for your convenience. The convenience of this foldable laptop is further emphasized when you unfold the laptop to use the whole screen as a PC then fold it back and tuck it away in your bag when you’re done to carry a lightweight, sleek and premium looking 3 in 1 tablet.
If you want this piece of the future as much as I do, head over to the ASUS Zenbook 17 page on the ASUS Malaysia website here and click on the “notify me” button to be the first to grab it once it goes on sale.
