Singapore promoter, Goodstock Motorsports, to host first race
Motor racing fans in Southeast Asia will soon be able to watch some thrilling races up close and personal right at home. This August, fans can experience American-style oval track racing locally in the heart of Singapore.
When Will It Start
The U.S. Legend Cars racing series will flag off on a specially-built track at the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) from 11 to 13 August 2023. The track will host the first ever U.S. Legend Cars quarter-mile race in Singapore as part of the inaugural Goodstock SpeedFest at Changi Aviation Park.
Double The Events, Double The Fun
Singapore promoter Goodstock Motorsports has been given the rights to promote and host the American racing event this year. The Goodstock SpeedFest will be supported by two motorsports events, including the Bandolero race for women and a Drift show for double the excitement.
Why Singapore?
Winson Ow, President, Motor Sports Singapore, exlained, “The Goodstock SpeedFest is a great boost for the Singapore motorsports community. They have a well-rounded model, in terms of venue and objectives. We hope to work with Goodstock Motorsports to stage other local events for racing enthusiasts in Singapore. This is definitely an exciting new chapter for motorsports in Singapore.”
New Region, Same Fanbase
E. Chapman, Vice-President of Racing Operations, U.S. Legend Cars International (USLCI), stated, “I am proud that Singapore will be hosting this series, which is growing in popularity around the world. Motorsports is growing very fast inAsia, and Singapore is the right place for us to reach fans in the Southeast Asian region. We have a good partner in Goodstock and will work with them to make the event here a success.”
What’s At Stake
The event was launched on Wednesday, 22 February 2023, at the Tampines Hub, where Goodstock Motorsports Managing Director Ben Tan and G.E. Chapman, U.S. Legend Cars Vice-President of Racing Operations, formalized the agreement. The race will also offer a total prize purse of SGD150,000.
Who Are The Players?
The Goodstock event will feature 30 drivers from the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Established Japanese driver Akinori Ogata, who competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, will be among the competitors vying for honours and the top prize of SGD100,000 as well.
