The Panerai Luminor Pam01957 is limited to just 140 pieces and is exclusive to the country

Following the opening of the first standalone boutique in Malaysia at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Panerai has released its latest creation, crafted specifically for the country. Limited to 140 pieces, this special edition timepiece Luminor Malaysia Special Edition (PAM 01957) bears details close to the heart of Malaysians.

Bringing Sexy Back

The new Luminor Malaysia Special Edition features a sandblasted titanium DLC case of 44mm, as well as a bezel and crown protector in titanium DLC. DLC, also known as Diamond-like carbon coating, gives the watch an unmistakable sleek, black look.

Moreover, beneath its titanium case back lies the beating heart of the Panerai in-house hand-wound mechanical movement, the P.5000 calibre. For this limited-edition model, the emblematic Luminor sandwich dial has been coloured matt green to evoke feelings of abundance, rejuvenation, and peace.

A Truly Malaysian Dial

The lush green colour of the dial also pairs with the distinct luminous hour markers and Arabic numerals. On top of the six o’clock position, is an embossing of the Siluro a Lenta Corsa (SLC), the human torpedo used by the Italian Navy.

On the back of the watch, is a tribute to the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, an engraving of the KLCC Twin Towers. This is the first Panerai timepiece created exclusively for Malaysia, with its model number, PAM01957, marking the year Malaysia became an independent nation.

The watch is sold with two sets of straps, one in light brown calf leather, and the other made of PET. At the heart of this latest Luminor Malaysia Special Edition, is the mechanical hand-wound movement, calibre P.5000 calibre. This movement offers an impressive 8-day power reserve and pays homage to those fitted in the watches used in the past.

The last time an exclusive edition was made for the region, was the PAM1177 Panerai Luminor GMT ION Singapore Edition, launched in 2020 to mark the re-opening of Panerai’s flagship boutique at ION Orchard.
