Capture the optimism of the new year with this exquisite Scotch whisky

The Macallan invites you to capture the optimism of the new year with a new unique single malt whisky dubbed A Night On Earth In Scotland. This whisky is part of a limited-edition gifting series and is made in collaboration with acclaimed Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn, whose artwork was featured in leading director Wes Anderson’s films.

A Night On Earth In Scotland is inspired by Hogmanay, which is the traditional Scottish New Year’s Eve celebration. This is why the whisky has a natural colour of warm ember and pays tribute to the role of fire at New Year. The vibrant and beautiful box this whisky is presented in was also created by the artist.

Elaborating further, Jaume Ferras, Global Creative Director at The Macallan, explains, “There is one night of the year when friends, family and loved ones come together. A night of warm memories and plans for the future, and The Macallan A Night On Earth In Scotland has been specially created in collaboration with Erica Dorn to capture the essence of that unique moment.”

The distinct packaging of the whisky serves as an easter egg to some of the unique customs of Hogmanay, including the tradition of first flooting. This is a custom where the first person to cross the threshold of homes in Scotland to bear gifts, and this whisky is the perfect gift for the new year too.

Speaking about the packaging of The Macallan A Night On Earth In Scotland whisky, Erica Dorn stated, “Fire plays a significant role in New Year celebrations around the world. Around its warmth we gather our families, friends, and loved ones to share past memories and future hopes.”

“Through its purifying qualities we release the past to clear the way for the future. In its dancing light we find solace from cold winter nights, as we have done since the dawn of time. Though the fire rituals may differ from culture to culture, fire is universal in its ability to unite us and bring us ‘home’.” She added.

A Night On Earth In Scotland was crafted from a selection of The Macallan’s sherry seasoned American and European oak casks as well as American ex-bourbon barrels. This gives the whisky a distinctly rich, sweet shortbread-like character and a soft, velvety mouth feel so everyone can enjoy it.
