Panerai And Razer: A Winning Collab
Share
The two brands work towards sustainability
Panerai can be defined by its two guiding principles, curiosity and imagination. Meanwhile Razer, the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers is the epitome of quality and creativity. Both brands are wildly successful and both have their own missions, but they both agree that sustainability is the way to go.
That creativity is the cornerstone that drove this unpredictable partnership between the two brands who both heavily support ocean preservation and aim to promote ocean literacy through this. So to achieve that goal, the two brands present the Luminor Quaranta Razer Special Edition timepiece.
This watch perfectly blends top notch horology with the instantly recognizable aesthetic of the biggest global name in gaming into a stunning, functional and sustainable wrist accessory. Production will be limited to only 500 pieces and will be made exclusively available on the Panerai website or Panerai boutiques.
Moreover, the production of the Luminor Quaranta Razer Special Edition is not just sustainable, it is unmistakably Razer. The 40mm case is made from eSteel and coated in diamond like carbon coating (DLC). What is eSteel? It is a next generation metal made from recycled steel and bears the signature black and a neon green second hand.
The stunning timepiece is not just immediately identifiable as a Razer, it is also immediately recognizable as a Panerai. Featuring a cushion-shaped case and patented crown-protection bridge, it bears all the markings of a Panerai Luminor watch. The famous Razer three-headed snake logo is subtly engraved on the caseback too.
The Razer touches don’t end there, the sandwich dial of this Panerai timepiece features gray Super-LumiNova that glows green, in line with the signature black and green of Razer. Also the watch efficiently utilizes space as it fits a seconds subdial at 9 o’clock and a date window at 3 o’clock despite being only 4.2mm thick.
Naturally, in line with Panerai’s sustainability initiatives, recycled materials play a huge role. This is obvious from the fact that the watch strap is made from recycled PET obtained from post-consumer plastic bottles. The packaging used to deliver these watches were made from 72 percent recycled materials too.
As amazing as that is, the two brands did not stop there, to further commit to sustainability, they partnered with Conservation International, the environmental nonprofit organization in support of marine species research. In fact, this research led to the development of sustainable livelihood opportunities for coastal communities.
