Lamborghini to cease production of the decade defining V12 Aventador

Well folks, it’s official, Automobili Lamborghini announced that their world renowned, well loved, decade long awe-inspiring V12 Lamborghini Aventador ceases production (again). This time though its permanent, which means the end of not just the sales dominating petrol super sports car, but also Lamborghini’s historic V12.Aventador

For anyone wondering what we mean by “again,” The Italian Marque initially announced that they would cease production of the Aventador earlier this year. However, they restarted production of the car six months ago to replace the 15 models lost at sea on the Felicity Ace ship that sank in the Atlantic Ocean on 1 March 2022.

With this, Lamborghini announced that the brand will bring this chapter to a close with one final hoorah in the form of the last ultimate petrol Aventador. This model is a Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4, a naturally-aspirated V12 Aventador finished in a special light blue Ad Personam colour specifically for the Swiss market.

The Lamborghini Aventador was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011 as the Aventador LP 700-4. It was given the name to reflect it’s 700 horsepower under the hood and the car’s permanent four-wheel drive state. That said, we all know the Aventador stood for so much more than just that.Aventador

With the 60 degree V12 that was developed entirely in-house, the Lamborghini Aventador represented the brand’s prowess and technological capabilities. It also showcased Lambo’s eye-catching design proficiency and of course, neck breaking performance, the likes of which had never existed in the realm of super sports cars.

When the car launched, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephen Winkelmann, stated “the Aventador is a jump of two generations in terms of design and technology, with an exceptional package of unique, innovative technologies and performance that is simply overwhelming.”

He was right, after all, the Aventador did single-handedly outsell all other Lamborghini V12 models and delivered 10,000 units by September of 2020. Clearly, it was the car to beat while it was around. However, just like all dynasties, the age of the V12 Lamborghini Aventador will also see its curtain call now.Lamborghini
