Next June, the legendary Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino, will unveil a new chapter in its storied history with the next phase of its ongoing multi-year renovation. This celebrated hotel, an icon of the Italian Riviera since the 1950s, is undergoing a stunning transformation led by the renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio.

An Upgrade

With the unveiling of its entirely renovated main building, Splendido will embrace the essence of Ligurian craftsmanship and design, offering a fresh new look while honouring its timeless allure. Guests will be treated to a redesigned cocktail bar, new suites, and a luxurious Dior Spa, marking an exciting evolution of one of the world’s most glamorous destinations.

This third renovation phase will set the stage for the debut of Villa Beatrice in July 2025, an exclusive, private villa that will join the Belmond portfolio as the ultimate Italian Riviera retreat. Splendido’s meticulous restoration preserves the grandeur of its 16th-century Benedictine monastery origins while infusing it with contemporary style.

The Future

The transformation began with the introduction of new rooms and a lobby in 2024, and last year saw the grand reopening of the celebrated pool area, Splendido Grill restaurant , and the Baronessa Suite, inspired by the region’s noble palazzos. For 2025, the hotel’s main building will be completed with revamped communal spaces as well.

On top of that, the Dior Spa, featuring treatment cabins and a rooftop relaxation terrace, will provide guests with a serene wellness escape, while the rooms and suites will showcase local artwork and botanical prints that celebrate Portofino’s natural beauty. Located high above Portofino with sweeping views of the Ligurian Bay, Splendido has long been the epitome of “la Dolce Vita.”
