Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story is based on the true story of Chloe Ayling’s abduction in Italy in 2017, when she travelled there for a photoshoot. This factual drama follows her terrifying kidnap, her bravery and resilience in captivity, and the subsequent court case that put her kidnappers in jail. Yet despite their convictions, Chloe faced headlines accusing her of faking her own kidnapping, and found herself at the centre of a media storm
The Story
Model Chloe Ayling was delighted to be booked for a photo shoot in Milan. But on arrival, she was drugged and held captive by a man who called himself ‘MD’ and claimed to work for a powerful crime syndicate. In a desperate move to escape, she managed to convince MD to release her to the British Consulate by promising a shared future.
But her nightmare did not end there. Despite the court case that put her kidnappers in jail, Chloe was vilified by the press and accused of staging the kidnap for publicity instead of being recognised as a survivor of a horrific crime.
Stunning Revelations
Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story is a gripping six-part factual drama based on Chloe’s real-life events. The drama reveals the untold details of her harrowing experience in captivity, shedding light on her journey as a victim in a society that is often quick to judge but slow to empathise.
It asks why Chloe was blamed for her kidnappers’ crimes? How do we relate to survivors of crime who make the front pages? And how does it feel to be an ordinary person, caught up in events so extraordinary that you aren’t believed?
Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story premieres on Thursday, 14th November on BBC First, available on UnifiTV channel 481, Astro GO and BBC Player.
