Malaysia’s leading telco wants you to connect with nature

CelcomDigi invites Malaysians to reconnect with nature during the upcoming harvest festivals, Pesta Kaamatan in Sabah and Hari Gawai in Sarawak. To celebrate, CelcomDigi presents ‘Nadi,’ a music project symbolising the vital connection between humans and the land.CelcomDigi

A Musical Story

Directed by Kelabit filmmaker Sarah Lois Dorai, the festive film showcases the journey of three East Malaysian musicians, Sape player Alena Murang, music producer Joshua Maran, and Sundatang revivalist Gindung. They create an instrumental piece using sounds harnessed from paddy plants, soil, flowers, and trees.

Moreover, the project highlights nature as a living entity with its own ‘Nadi’ and ‘voice’ that deserves care and respect. Using sonification technology, the plants’ vibrations were transformed into sound waves, transmitted in real-time over CelcomDigi’s network to a recording studio.

Reconnect With Nature

The musicians then synthesised these sounds with traditional instruments like the Sape, Sundatang, and Kulintangan, creating a melody that celebrates nature’s essence. As we celebrate the harvest season, CelcomDigi hopes to inspire Malaysians to appreciate and nurture their relationship with nature, preserving it for future generations.CelcomDigi
