See art and nature come together in a unique way at Côte d’Azur
Immerse yourself in the luxury and serenity of the Côte d’Azur, where the sparkling Mediterranean Sea and centuries-old pine trees provide an exceptional backdrop for displaying works of art. This picturesque setting has long inspired masters like Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Fernand Léger.
Still Celebrating Art
Now, almost a century later, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc continues this rich tradition of art and living by inviting gallery owner Kamel Mennour to present monumental sculptures by five of today’s leading artists, Daniel Buren, Alicja Kwade, Bertrand Lavier, Ugo Rondinone, and Lee Ufan.
These five artists and their works create a timeless dialogue between art and nature within the hotel’s enchanting grounds, unveiling new dimensions of beauty and creativity. Visitors will be mesmerised by the interplay of mirrors, shapes, and colours, set against the stunning natural landscape.
Instantly Recognisable Art
Daniel Buren combines his signature visual tool, colour and transparency, with the element of “sky.” As he explains, “without the sky, and the sun’s rays, half the work disappears.” Alicja Kwade transforms materials by creating a poetic dialogue between a rock and its aluminium replica, playing with reflections.
Bertrand Lavier on the other hand brings fiction into reality with a sculpture from his Walt Disney Productions series, turning images into tangible forms. Ugo Rondinone explores the archetypes of sculpture with an immense representation of the human figure in its most timeless and primal dimension.
Finally, Lee Ufan juxtaposes stone and steel, establishing a mythological balance of power between nature and culture. This exhibition invites visitors to explore the intricate connections between art and nature, offering a unique opportunity to reflect on our relationship with the world around us while celebrating the diversity of artistic expression.
“I am delighted that our guests will have the pleasure of admiring a group of monumental sculptures by five major artists from the contemporary art scene, in a timeless dialogue between art and nature.” said Philippe Perd, CEO of Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
