Karl-Friedrich Scheufele And Jacky Ickx present the Chronograph JX7
Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele and Chopard Ambassador Jacky Ickx have unveiled a new chronograph from their latest creative collaboration at an exclusive dinner. The Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph JX7 is the seventh edition of Chopard timepieces to pay tribute to its legendary Ambassador.
Exclusive
Produced in two limited editions of 250 in Lucent Steel and 50 in Lucent Steel and ethical yellow gold, it features numerous references to Jacky Ickx’s career. These include his midnight blue ‘owl’ helmet and his prowess in ‘time attack’ mode (a qualifying stage before the races) as well as in competition, reflected in his six wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Moreover, like all watches in the Jacky Ickx collection, this new series is equipped with a minutes counter at 9 o’clock, a 24-hour counter at 6 o’clock, a flyback function and a tachymeter scale. With his prestigious record of achievements in Formula 1, endurance racing, Can-Am and the Paris-Dakar, Jacky Ickx is a living legend.
A Living Legend
Six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Jacky Ickx is a long-standing friend of and ambassador for Chopard. The Maison’s decision to dedicate a collection of limited-edition chronographs to this motor racing legend was an obvious choice. Since 2003, these models have conveyed the sense of energy and mental strength characteristic of Jacky Ickx.
The exhibition notably featured several historical cars that accompanied Jacky Ickx in his victories, including the Ferrari 312 B2 model with which he won the 1972 German Grand Prix at Nürburgring by a 48-second margin.
An Enthusiast’s Playground
Also displayed was a faithful replica of the Mercedes-Benz 280GE that Jacky Ickx drove to victory in the 1982 Paris-Dakar Rally, covering 14,000 km of desert, steppe, jungle and mountain in 21 days with team-mate Claude Brasseur.
Alongside the famous Bell full-face helmet that inspired the design of the new Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph JX7 watch, this comprehensive retrospective also comprised works of art, trophies, clothing and miniature cars from private collections commemorating Jacky Ickx’s great victories.
