Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy is excited to uncover GT Racing’s most promising new talent
A record number of young GT drivers have enrolled in the 2024 Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy. This marks the beginning of a new quest for the British luxury sports car manufacturer to endorse its eighth graduate from this esteemed initiative.
The Biggest Turnout
Thirty-two racers from 13 countries across five continents are vying for spots in at least 14 different Aston Martin partner teams in 2024, including newcomers like Comtoyou Racing, Walkenhorst Motorsport, Forsetti Racing, and EastSide Motorsport.
This diverse intake ensures that the AMR Academy’s influence extends to nearly every major international endurance series this year, encompassing the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Fanatec GT World Challenge, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, and prominent national series in Britain, Germany, and France.
The List
Adam Carter, Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance, emphasised the academy’s role in nurturing emerging talent within the partner network, underscoring its positive impact on GT-focused drivers. Since its inception in 2014, the initiative has proven to be instrumental in advancing the careers of rising stars in GT racing, with notable alumni including Ross Gunn, Tom Canning, Valentin Hasse-Clot, Roman De Angelis, Romain Leroux, and Mike David Ortmann.
A Special Experience
The academy offers a unique platform for learning and development, tailored to drivers aged between 16 and 26 with Vantage GT3 and GT4 race programs in recognized championships. Successful graduates receive financial support for their 2025 race programs, along with guidance and assistance from the factory.
Candidates underwent a comprehensive three-day seminar, which included visits to the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team Technology Campus, media training, simulator sessions, fitness assessments, commercial training, and engineering workshops.
A Constant Test
Throughout the season, participants will also be evaluated by a judging panel consisting of industry experts, assessing their strategic, teamwork, commercial, and public relations skills to determine the most promising candidate for future development.
